Welcome to the Banff ski resort smackdown!
Today, we’re going to be talking about which of the three Banff ski resorts is the best: Banff Mount Norquay, Banff Sunshine Village, or Lake Louise Ski Resort.
Now, we’ve truly enjoyed all of these spots, and let us tell you, they all have their pros and cons.
First up, we’ve got Banff Mount Norquay. This is the smallest of the three resorts, but don’t let that fool you. Mount Norquay packs a punch. It’s got some of the steepest runs in the area, and it’s known for its gnarly terrain park.
Now, if you’re an advanced skier or snowboarder, you’re going to love Mount Norquay. The runs are challenging and exhilarating, and the terrain park has everything from small jumps to massive kickers. Plus, since it’s the smallest of the three resorts, it’s usually less crowded, which means more fresh tracks for you.
However, if you’re a beginner or an intermediate skier, Mount Norquay might not be the best choice for you. The majority of the runs are black diamonds or double black diamonds, which can be intimidating for those who are just starting out. Plus, the resort doesn’t have as many amenities as the other two resorts, so you won’t find as many dining options or shops.
Next up, we’ve got Banff Sunshine Village. This resort is located on the Continental Divide, which means it gets some of the best snow in the area. And let me tell you, the snow at Sunshine Village is something special. It’s light, fluffy, and perfect for skiing and snowboarding.
Sunshine Village is also known for its stunning views. From the top of the mountain, you can see all the way to the horizon, and on a clear day, you can even see the peaks of the Rocky Mountains in the distance. It’s truly a breathtaking sight.
But, like Mount Norquay, Sunshine Village does have its downsides. The resort can get pretty crowded, especially on weekends and holidays. And while the runs are varied, there aren’t as many challenging runs as Mount Norquay or Lake Louise. So, if you’re an advanced skier or snowboarder, you might find yourself getting bored after a few days.
And finally, we’ve got Lake Louise Ski Resort. This is the biggest of the three resorts, and it’s known for its diverse terrain. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, you’ll find something to love at Lake Louise.
One of the things I love about Lake Louise is the sheer size of the resort. With over 4,200 acres of skiable terrain, there’s always a new run to explore. And if you’re an advanced skier or snowboarder, you’ll love the back bowls. These areas are some of the most challenging in the area, and they offer some of the best powder skiing around.
But, with size comes crowds. Lake Louise can get pretty busy, especially on weekends and holidays. And, like Sunshine Village, there aren’t as many challenging runs as Mount Norquay. Plus, the resort can be a bit overwhelming for beginners, with so many runs to choose from.
So, who’s the winner of the Banff ski resort smackdown? It’s a tough call, but we’re going to have to give it to…Lake Louise Ski Resort!
While all three resorts have their pros and cons, Lake Louise offers the most variety and the most challenging terrain. And while it can get crowded, the sheer size of the resort means that there’s always a new run to explore, and you’ll never get bored. Plus, the back bowls are truly something special. If you’re an advanced skier or snowboarder, you won’t find better powder skiing anywhere else.
But, that’s not to say that Mount Norquay and Sunshine Village aren’t worth a visit. In fact, we highly recommend checking out all three resorts if you have the time. Each resort has its own unique charm, and you might find that one of the other resorts is a better fit for your skill level and preferences.
Overall, the Banff ski resorts are some of the best in the world. The combination of stunning views, incredible snow, and challenging terrain make Banff a must-visit destination for any skier or snowboarder. And, with three amazing resorts to choose from, you can’t go wrong.
So, get out there and hit the slopes! Whether you’re carving down steep black diamonds at Mount Norquay, enjoying the breathtaking views at Sunshine Village, or exploring the massive terrain at Lake Louise, you’re sure to have an unforgettable experience.
